For many of us, Scouting is much more than an activity of our youths. It becomes an integral part of who we are. The values, the friendships, the outdoor experience, the atmosphere, and the memories never leave us. Long after our, or our son's, Scouting experience is over, we still want to keep our connections to each other, to Scouting, and to Troop 323 alive. That's why our newly-formed Alumni Association exists--to give Scouts and Scouters of every age a connection to each other and to Scouting.
We keep in touch with our Alumni through a sort-of-semi-annual newsletter. It includes information about recent and upcoming troop activities, updates on new and anticipated Eagle Scouts, calls for help with specific outings, and occassional features on individual alumni.
We are always looking for adult volunteers. If you're looking for a chance to go hiking, camping, floating, or climbing, this is it. If you're ready to get involved as an adult volunteer, let us know. We'll get you into the woods before you know it.
The cornerstone of our Alumni program is our annual reunion. It's usually held the Saturday before St. Patrick's day. Our FIFTH annual Alumni reunion will be Saturday, March 8, 2008 at Beaumont. With your help, we plan to make this the best one yet. The day starts with Scouts serving you the best campfire breakfast you've ever seen. Before, during and after breakfast, we'll gather around the campfire for coffee, stories, pictures, and fellowship. Later in the morning, we'll celebrate mass in the woods. Stay as long as you like. If you want to spend the night, great! Bring your tent and sleeping gear. We'll take care of the meals.
We're working on building our alumni contact list. Please let us know how to get in touch with you. While Scouting is an organization proudly built on tradition, this is 2008, and email is the most efficient medium. If you can provide us with an email address, we'll do a much better job of staying in touch.
If you're interested in helping organize and build your Alumni Association, let us know.
